Much of my research has involved a shadowgraph imager known as the In Situ Ichthyoplankton Imaging System (also see the Facebook page). This camera system, which combines images with synoptic oceanographic measurements, captures the beauty of zooplankton and has led to new insights about their biology and interactions with the physical environment. Please scroll through the slideshow to see some example images captured in Monterey Bay, near Stellwagen and Georges Banks, and the northern Gulf of Mexico.
